BPS Certificate of Competence in Occupational Testing

Human Factors is pleased to offer courses in Occupational Testing for the Level A and B Certificates. These comprehensive courses provide training leading to the fulfilment of requirements for the British Psychological Society Certificate of Competence in Occupational Testing (Test Administration, Level A and Level B Intermediate).

Participants of Level A & B courses will become...

• able to access restricted psychometric tests designed specifically for workplace selection and development,
• able to critically evaluate what makes a valid test and select relevant tests for a particular purpose,
• qualified to administer online or paper and pencil psychometric assessments,
• competent in interpreting the results of ability and personality tests and providing meaningful feedback, and
• able to take control of testing procedures and integrate psychometric assessments with the overall selection and development process.

Level A
The course is 5 days in duration comprising 2 days distance learning and a 3-day interactive workshop held in our Central London offices. Our workshops have a maximum of 8 participants supported by dedicated tutors who facilitate Q & A sessions, simulation exercises and course assessments.

Course Units Include...

• Introduction to Psychological Tests
• Scaling, Norms and Standardisation
• Reliability and the Standard Error of Measurement
• Validity and Fairness in Testing
• Test Administration
• Test Interpretation and Scoring
• Confidentiality and Use of Testing in HR Procedures
• Providing written and verbal feedback
• Final Completion of Portfolio

Level B
The course is 4-days in duration comprising 1 day distance learning and a 3-day interactive workshop held in our Central London offices. As with our Level A course, workshops have a maximum of 8 participants supported by dedicated tutors who facilitate Q & A sessions, simulation exercises and course assessments.

Course Units Include...

• Personality Theory
• Methods of Personality Assessment
• Introduction to Personality Measurement based upon the 16 Personality Factor questionnaire (16PF5)
• Profile interpretation and written reports for selection, development and career guidance
• Questionnaire administration, scoring and feedback
• Practical work-based exercises
• Completion of assignments and individual portfolios

Test Administration
Participants seeking to gain a BPS accredited administrators qualification can be included in the relevant modules from the Level A course. This qualification will require 1 day distance learning as well as participation on 1 day of the interactive workshop.
